Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Interface Design Engineer. This position may be located in either Roy, UT or Huntsville, AL and supports the Sentinel program.
What You'll Get to Do:
Roles and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Create and implement 3D CAD (NX) models that define space allocation and interface detail.
- Support the Interface Control Model (ICM) team in capturing interface detail through design and board reviews.
- Implement program processes and engineering board approval processes for developed ICMs.
- Deliver required ICMs on time to meet program objectives.
- Integrate Interface Design ICMs with the various element teams to proactively eliminate disconnects and design clashes.
- Identify gaps and holes within the design and/or requirements and provide a path forward for resolution that is cost effective, innovative, and has minimal impact to others.
- Ensure the developed ICMs meet the design requirements from the various element/configured item specifications.
- Determine technical solution in accordance with product specifications and recommend actions to representatives for coordinated product solution.
- Support digital transformation initiatives relating to ICM development and release.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) with 5 years of experience; or Master's degree with 3 years of experience; or PhD with 1 year of experience.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time.
- 1 year of experience with systems engineering principles and processes.
- 1 year of proven knowledge of design tools including TeamCenter/NX.
- 1 year of proven experience to read and interpret technical drawings.
- 1 year experience with design and fabrication techniques for structural details, assemblies, and installations.
- Proven knowledge of specifications and processes as they relate to engineering model-based definition.
- Proven knowledge of product development lifecycle.
- 1 year of experience in creating an ICM or ICM like product.
- Must be able to work independently, function in a dynamic environment, and be flexible to changing direction.
These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have:
- An active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope.
- ICBM Experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations.
- Demonstrated experience in making sound decisions in uncertain and difficult situations.
- Strong sense of urgency and work ethic in ensuring engineering meets customer and program expectations.
- Experience in leading/supporting a development engineering team.
- Demonstrated experience working with customers to ensure project success.
- Experience in performing in an Agile environment and knowledge/understanding of JIRA.
Salary Range: $86,600 - $143,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers.
