Texas Education Agency requires the services of 1 Senior Web Developer 3, hereafter referred to as Candidate(s), who meets the general qualifications of Senior Web Developer 3, Web Development and the specifications outlined in this document for the Texas Education Agency.

All work products resulting from the project shall be considered "works made for hire" and are the property of the Texas Education Agency and may include pre-selection requirements that potential Vendors (and their Candidates) submit to and satisfy criminal background checks as authorized by Texas law. Texas Education Agency will pay no fees for interviews or discussions, which occur during the process of selecting a Candidate(s).

The UX Designer will be responsible for creating a positive and productive end user experience for TEA applications and websites and for maintaining a user-centric focus throughout product development.

TEA is seeking a senior UX and Product Design lead to help create solutions that improve education technology integration and enable parents, teachers, schools, and district leaders to focus on what is most important -- their students. The UX and Product Design Lead will play a critical role in ensuring the successful deployment of technology solutions by maintaining a strong user-centric focus and driving alignment with existing work in the field. They will work under minimal supervision with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and use strong independent judgment.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing UX/UI designs to ensure design decisions are grounded in user experience and adhere to agency-wide design standards and industry-wide best practices.
• Translating research into user stories, requirements, flows, wireframes, and prototypes and collaborating on the future product roadmap.
• Employing user testing and outreach to ensure products meet the needs of the end users, in collaboration with partners.
• Partnering with the product team and other key stakeholders, including senior leadership, on design solutions and rationales; collaborating with internal and external teams of product designers, developers, and product managers.

CANDIDATE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates that do not meet or exceed the minimum stated requirements (skills/experience) will be displayed to customers but may not be chosen for this opportunity.

1. 8 years Required: Experience in software product development, digital design, UX/UI or a related field.
2. 8 years Required: Designing mockups and/or wireframes that conform to UX best practices.
3. 8 years Required: A portfolio of user research, visual design, and usability studies that demonstrates a high level of professionalism.
4. 8 years Required: Experience conducting user and usability research.
5. 5 years Required: Demonstrated strong writing and organization skills.
6. 5 years Required: Demonstrated strong communication and facilitation skills.
7. 4 years Required: Direct experience leading large-scale UX/UI efforts.
8. 4 years Required: Documented experience developing wireframes, mockups, and prototypes in Figma or comparable design software.
9. 3 years Required: Experience ensuring designs and websites conform to federal accessibility guidelines.
10. 3 years Preferred: Documented work experience with the issue tracking software "Atlassian Jira".
11. 2 years Preferred: Documented experience working for or closely with TEA or another state or local education agency.
