POSITION SUMMARY:
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is looking to grow as a fashion designer. As an Assistant Designer, you will be responsible for owning all aspects of the design process for your assigned categories (i.e., dresses, outerwear, tops, bottoms, knits, sweaters, etc.) You will take on a significant role in the design process, from performing market research, sketching, collaborating with our tech team during fittings and communicating directly with our factories.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct market research to recognize and analyze current fashion trends and consumer preferences while ensuring products are consistent with fashion/market trends as well as overall business strategy.
- Communicate point of view clearly through mood boards and concept tears
- Create sketch pages with construction detail callouts for the tech design team.
- Create tech packs in BeProduct with style and fabric specifications.
- Identify new fabric needs that are focused and meaningful to the assortment.
- Comment on and approve vendor submissions, such as lab dips, trims, and bulk fabrics. Track and manage approvals.
- Communicate ongoing development details to internal partners (i.e., Production, Tech, Merchants) and vendors, ensuring all communication is flowing to the correct people
- Track and organize development samples, ensuring they are delivered within required timelines and seamlessly passed off to key parties
- Work with vendors and design to keep projects running smoothly and on time
- Assist with managing the design process from concept to final product
- Maintain a high level of attention to detail and ensure design quality is consistent
- Implement feedback and make necessary revisions to designs
- Assist with other design-related tasks and projects as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
- 2-3 years of design experience with strong product development experience across different product categories in women's wear.
- Understanding of trends and ability to forecast trends
- Fabric knowledge and garment construction
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is a must.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Self-starter with excellent organizational, time management, communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.
- Great at prioritizing your workload and meeting deadlines.
