Job Summary/Description:
KGNS+ is seeking a morning news anchor. We are looking for an aggressive anchor who is passionate about covering local news and weather. KGNS+ is looking for a candidate who is an energetic “morning person” who can give viewers something to look forward to in the mornings. We need someone who can be a co-anchor but also solo-anchor when necessary for several hours and serve as a co-producer during the overnight hours. We seek an anchor who will be involved in the day-to-day operations of the newsroom, be a leader, and be a researcher who will assist in developing enterprise and investigative content.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Collaborating and assisting show producers with writing of news contentResearching, gathering, shooting, writing, and editing news stories for on-air and onlineCompleting regular franchises or special investigative reportsWriting in a clear, concise, conversational mannerPossessing excellent interview and conversational writing/presentation skillsReporting “live” on the scene during breaking news or weatherDeveloping and maintaining sources of informationDemonstrating sound news judgmentEnterprising hard-news, research-driven stories under tight deadlinesParticipating in editorial meetingsAttending/hosting/speaking at schools and community eventsPosting and regularly updating stories and other material on the web and social mediaInteracting with viewers on social media, including a regular presence on Facebook LiveFollowing clothing and appearance guidelines set by news managementLearning a broad and working knowledge of the viewing area, including people, places, things, and historyPossibly producing and anchoring at least 15-30 minutes a day on OTTPerforming other job-related duties as assignedMeeting tight deadlines and working well under pressureMaintaining professional and ethical conduct in the station and in the communityMaintaining a positive work atmosphereStaying current with national and local news/weatherQualifications/Requirements:
One (1) year experience in a newsroom preferred, including anchoring experienceBS/BA in journalism or communications preferredAbility to shoot, write and edit your own stories as necessaryExperience with posting stories to web and social mediaExcellent communication skills, both oral and writtenAbility to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneouslyComputer literacy, including newsroom computer systemsA valid driver's license and a good driving recordIf you feel you’re qualified and want to work with a great group of people go to
