$68,000 - $72,000 The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Westfield is seeking a Director of Development and Marketing (DoD/M) who will be responsible for successfully leading and implementing an integrated resource development strategy. The DoD/M will be responsible for developing new relationships in addition to maintaining existing relationships designed to build the organization’s visibility, impact, and financial resources. This individual will be responsible for raising private and government sector funds to support the Club’s initiatives while leading the development and implementation of organization-wide strategies to increase fundraising capacity. The DoD/M will support the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Corporate Board in cultivating and soliciting major gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations, and others. The DoD/M will lead the effort of fundraising, volunteer cultivation, corporate philanthropic support, communications, public relations, marketing, and social media functions for the organization. The DoD/M will work together with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Finance Director to help provide strategic leadership and operational management. The DoD/M reports directly to the CEO. Specific Responsibilities:
Revenue Generation:
Lead the efforts to raise funds to support a $4-5 million budget annually – with plans to grow to $5 million in the next three to five years through corporate, individual, foundation, and/or state/city/federal funding. Identify and implement new revenue streams, with a focus on increasing sustainable unrestricted private revenue. Lead the creation and growth of a new framework for individual giving with estate planning, sustainers, and bequests. Work closely with the CEO to sustain, enhance and implement the annual ONE campaign and capital campaign when needed. Partner with CEO and Executive Committee to steward and deepen existing funder relationships and cultivate new supporters. Evaluate and drive the use of new technology and existing (Vision Donor Software) funding vehicles including social media and eGiving. Plan and evaluate financial needs and fundraising plans for the organization’s future. Board and Senior Staff Leadership:
Work closely with Executive Committee and Senior Staff to lead the creation and implementation of development strategy. Attend board meetings and board committee meetings and report on development activities as needed in coordination with the CEO. Serve as an ambassador and spokesperson for the organization and articulate our mission to external constituents. Together with the CEO, educate and motivate board members and senior staff in donor cultivation and professional fundraising techniques. Attend Boys & Girls Clubs of America and related trainings for resource development and donor cultivation. Assist CEO, Board and senior staff in development of long-range organizational strategic plan. Work with the CEO to ensure board members are engaged and energized by their association with the organization. Collaborate with the Finance Director and CEO to develop and produce regular analytic reports for Executive Committee review that synthesize the financial progress and trends of fundraising activities. Provide leadership, motivation and staff service to the CEO, Chairman and other board members in carrying out their development responsibilities. Accompany CEO, Board President and board members as appropriate on solicitation calls. When appropriate, personally conduct major gift solicitations. Internal Management and Infrastructure:
Continually review departmental infrastructure to ensure support of organization’s revenue growth goals. Oversee and work with grant writing and grant program staff to ensure annual plan for both program and organizational needs and appropriate funding is in place. Lead along with CEO and Board on all special events. Focus on communications and oversee marketing staff to ensure consistent messaging and branding in all print and online donor communication vehicles. Provide strategic and marketing oversight to all donor materials, and strategic support on the full range of external stakeholder communications. Partner with the finance and accounting staff to sustain efficient, effective and transparent financial tracking and report processes. Document and record history of calls and meetings in donor tracking system. Qualifications:
Past leadership experience representing an organization to external audiences. Experience with staff and board management, engagement and development. Demonstrated fundraising success from a variety of fundraising streams. Demonstrated success in developing and implementing effective fundraising strategies. Proven track record of developing successful partnerships with other companies and organizations. Donor communications experience utilizing donor software technology programs. Experience in the management of a capital campaign. Persuasive, credible and polished communicator both written and verbal. Creative, independent, and strategic thinker. Strong strategic planning and project and budget management skills. Proven ability to meet and complete multiple tasks with solid deadlines. Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
