The AM Camera Operator composes and frames camera shots, applying the technical aspects of lenses and camera settings to achieve the effects sought by Newscast Directors.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adjusts positions and controls of cameras to change focus, exposure, and lighting as requested by the Newscast Director.
- Operates studio and remote cameras during live broadcasts.
- Confers with Newscast Directors and crew to discuss show rundowns, effects, camera movements, and lighting.
- Sets up, tests, maintains, and repairs camera equipment.
- Produces and operates graphics for the newscast.
- Occasionally floor directs and runs teleprompter.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS:
- Ability to perform duties under high stress conditions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Proficiency with computers and office equipment.
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks.
Physical Demands & Work Environment: The PT Camera Operator must be able to stand, sit, reach, climb, and operate equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to climb ladders and work indoors or outdoors during remote broadcasts. Repetitive movements are required.
