The Chapel School (TCS) Job Description for PT Librarian

The TCS PT Librarian, under the direct supervision of the Principal, will conduct story times for Preschool 2s-4th Grade Classes and manage the Library. If skills are evident, they may also provide support for learning readers in the Primary Grades (K-2) and struggling readers in Grades 3-8. Ultimately, they will be expected to maintain excellence in a safe, nurturing Christ-centered Library where our mission ... "To Know, Live and Share the Love of Christ" ... can be experienced by a culture of readers.

The TCS PT Librarian is expected to maintain an effective working relationship with administrators, teachers, maintenance staff, clerical staff, students, and parents/guardians, demonstrating faith in their daily walk with Christ.

PT Librarian

(a) Identify Literature for use in all content areas in support of the curriculum (K-8);

(b) Maintain an organized system and accessible location for the storage and circulation of reading and writing materials;

(c) Review, purchase and process books, media, periodicals and other related items as requested by teachers and students;

(d) Make recommendations for Library Expense Line in Operational Budget;

(e) Keep library account of records (income and expense) for Principal and Business Office;

(f) Manage Inventory and assess library maintenance needs;

(g) Visit Book Stores, Research On-Line Book Stores and Read NEW children's literature to stay current with TCS collection, giving special consideration to current Lutheran/Christian Library Resources;

(h) Ensure that Weekly 40- to 50-minute Story Time is taking place with TCS Preschool-Grade 4;

(i) Ensure that Weekly Story Times are taking place with each Preschool Class (Sched. 8/31);

(j) Assist PTO with Book Fair;

(k) Oversee Birthday Book Fund-Raiser or other such fund-raisers;

(l) Manage Data Base for Accelerated Reader (AR):

• Set up all classes in August;
• Train all new teachers on use of AR;
• Label AR Books Accordingly;
• Trouble-Shoot AR Needs;
• Ensure process of AR Payment (exp. 7/31) Renewal;

(j) Patron Circulation Binder Update (Early September)

PT Hours (20 Hours/Week)

It is understood that TCS's PT Librarian will:

• Be on site per the School Calendar (M-F) from September through June.
• Be on site from 9:00 AM-2:00 PM each school day.

Salary Range - $24K-$28K depending on credentials and experience.

Preferably Have a Degree or Experience in Library Services.
