Job Overview:
The Educational Programs Manager will be responsible for developing, managing, and executing the educational initiatives of the organization. This role is key to expanding and enhancing the reach of our educational programs, collaborating with schools, community organizations, filmmakers, and educators. The manager will work closely with the programming team to ensure that educational programs align with the organization's mission of promoting the art and science of film through education and cross-cultural awareness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Development:Design and implement educational programs and workshops that support the organization's mission and goals.
- Partnerships & Outreach:Build and maintain relationships with educational institutions, community organizations, and industry professionals to enhance programming and create new opportunities.
- Event Coordination:Oversee the planning and execution of educational events such as filmmaker Q&As, panel discussions, workshops, school screenings, and classes.
- Curriculum Design:Develop curricula and resources that complement films, ensuring they are engaging, accessible, and educational.
- Budget & Resource Management:Manage the educational program budget, ensuring efficient use of resources while meeting program objectives. Work closely with the grant writer, and development team, to identify funding opportunities and support the preparation of grant proposals to secure funding for educational initiatives.
- Marketing & Promotion:Work with the marketing team to promote educational programs to target audiences, including schools, teachers, students, and community groups.
- Evaluation & Reporting:Track the effectiveness and impact of educational programs, gathering feedback, and making recommendations for improvements. Prepare regular reports for senior leadership.
- Team Collaboration:Collaborate with the programming, marketing, and outreach teams to ensure smooth execution and integration of educational programming within the overall organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Film Studies, Communications, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing educational programs or events, ideally within the film or arts sector.
- Strong understanding of film as an educational tool and a passion for promoting film literacy.
- Excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills.
- Experience with budget management and resource allocation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Knowledge of current trends in education, community outreach, and film.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in curriculum development and designing educational materials.
This position may require some evening and weekend work in coordination with events and programs. Travel to various educational institutions and community organizations will also be required.
Hours
40 hours a week, extended hours during busy programming staging periods. Must be available to work in person. Some evening and weekend work required
