Summary
The Director of College Marketing and Communications will provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the College's brand, marketing initiatives, and external communications that increase brand awareness, foster a positive reputation, and support enrollment growth. This creative leader guides and develops effective communications outreach and marketing campaigns that increase engagement and shares the Principia College story with prospective and current students, faculty, staff, and other members of the community through a range of media. The position will report directly to the College President and lead the College Marketing team. The position will have a dotted reporting line to Principia’s Chief Advancement, Marketing, and Communications Officer and collaborate cross-functionally with Principia’s broader marketing and communications teams as well as other institutional team members to maximize the impact of the College's marketing and communications efforts.

Primary ResponsibilitiesDevelops and manages an annual,
multi-channel marketing strategy
for Principia College that supports external communications and initiatives designed to grow enrollment, build positive brand awareness and reputation, and meet the College’s goals.Guides, mentors, and manages
the College’s marketing team, including a college admissions marketing director and college marketing specialist; hires and oversees additional staff, freelancers, consultants, and student workers.Directs and manages the College’s
visual brand and messaging
in collaboration and alignment with Principia’s broader brand and messaging strategy, collaborating with Principia’s shared services marketing team on the development of creative assets, such as graphics, videos, and written content.Responsible for the College’s external websites, social media channels, and mobile app, collaborating with cross-functional teams and the shared services marketing team to ensure the college’s
digital presence
is accurate, relevant, informative, easy to navigate, and is consistent with messaging and visual identity guidelines.Monitors, analyzes and regularly reports on
marketing metrics
and key performance indicators, measuring and optimizing results and ROI on marketing campaigns.Oversees the
marketing budget , ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources and optimal ROI.Serves as a member of an institutional marketing leadership team in order to ensure all marketing communications, campaigns, and strategies are consistent and institutionally aligned; seeks opportunities for collaborations that support Principia’s institutional goals.Collaborates with the shared services marketing team to coordinate and create content for
Principia’s publications and earned media stories
that promote the College's thought leaders, faculty research and accomplishments, student spotlights and outcomes, and promotes events, building brand recognition and reputation.Collaborates with Principia’s communications leads to support the College President with
communications for internal and external audiences
and events.Collaborates with Principia’s
Advancement and Alumni offices
in support of the College’s fundraising, alumni network, and alumni event outreach efforts.Stays current on marketing trends, tools, and best practices , especially for higher education, regularly reevaluating effective strategies, key target audiences, and new social channels to enhance digital marketing efforts.Core competencies

Minimum QualificationsStudent of Christian Science; if not, then values alignedSupportive of Principia’s mission, vision, and values as articulated here https://www.principia.edu/about/missionBachelor's degree in business, marketing, or communications requiredMinimum 10 years of experience in communications, marketing, branding, public relations, or a related field required; higher education or non-profit experience preferredExcellent writing skills, must provide portfolio examplesDemonstrated experience in directing, managing, and creating content for multi-channel platforms, including web, social media, print, and emailExperience managing employees and leading creative teams and processesProject management experienceExperience working with social and web data analytics, creating reports, and analyzing trendsUnderstanding of mobile app platforms and technology, and demonstrated experience with SEO and website developmentExperience with CRM platforms, particularly SlateProficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Adobe Suite applications (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) a plusStrong command of and experience with various social media platforms
