Do you have the skills to fill this role Read the complete details below, and make your application today.LHMA is currently seeking a Director of Music Education who will enhance all current and future music programming through curriculum development, professional teacher development, and academic program creation/development. The position is available immediately and will remain open until filled.
The Director of Music Education's working hours will primarily take place afterschool and weekends when our programming takes place.
Experience with Contemporary Rock and Pop styles of music needed. Must be proficient in one or more of the contemporary rock/pop ensemble instruments (guitar, drums, bass, keys, vocals) and must be a self-starter.
Job Responsibilities:
Review/revision/enhancement of existing curriculum (including our long-standing “Stripes” curriculum for private lessons)
Creating and implementing systems and driving culture.
Curriculum writing & development for new/future LHMA programming
Oversees adoption of Lakehouse Music Academy’s online practice software by all instructors for their group and private lessons.
Professional development & training for all LHMA teachers (through both individual meetings and personalized development plans, and group professional development sessions)
Collaborative program development in coordination with founder, vice president, and music directors (for both “onsite” programs at the Asbury Park & Red Bank locations and “offsite” programs at a wide variety of local schools/youth programs/etc.)
Drive project management initiatives to support the continuous improvement of educational programs.
Sourcing, developing and retaining instructors for both onsite and offsite programs
Development of a teacher training process for LHMA teachers
Taking student meetings aimed at improving the customer experience and development
The Director of Music Education's weekly schedule at Lakehouse will be constructed based on the priority of the initiatives of focus (on-site programming, off-site programming, curriculum creation and implementation, etc.) and will consist of mornings, evenings, and at least one weekend day a week.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree in music, education, or a related field
A minimum of 5 years of experience as a music educator
Previous experience as a curriculum writer/developer
A proven track record of program building / development
Experience/comfort working with students and faculty of different ages, styles, backgrounds, and experience levels
Personal expertise on a single instrument is expected and encouraged, but a working knowledge of drums, bass, vocals, guitars and piano/keyboards is required
