About the Special Hazards Designer Role
The Special Hazards Designer will be responsible for designing various non water-based Fire Suppression systems. The designer will work closely with our in-house FP Engineer to provide suppression solutions for high hazards and critical equipment & spaces. We perform turnkey installations as well as plan and spec projects. Systems include Clean agents, VESDA, Foam, Inert gases and Water mist as well as detection & controls.
What You'll Do: • Develops and maintains relationships with prospective clients to promote special hazard system sales • Staying up to date with knowledge of NFPA 2001, 13, 14 & 20 • Prepare suppression submittal drawings • Prepare suppression calculation • Prepare detection & control drawings • Review contract drawings for code compliance • Coordinate FP systems in a 3D model with other disciplines • Perform field survey work • Attend job meetings • Identify and write RFIs as needed. • Build and manage relationships with equipment Vendors. • Prepare material submittals and closeout documentation for construction projects. • Pull permits for construction projects • Sprinkler Design is a plus
What You Bring to the Team: • Minimum of 5 years of experience • Bachelors' degree equivalent experience in related field. • Familiar with Microsoft Suite, AutoCAD or Revit, manufacture software (training can be provided). • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills • Demonstrated ability to problem solve. • Demonstrated ability to manage shifting priorities. • Knowledge/Understanding of Core Responsibilities Training • Attention to detail in all aspects of a project
