The Associated Students, Inc (ASI) is a 501(c)3 not for profit corporation which serves as an auxiliary of the California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) with approximately 15,000 students. CSUDH is one of 23 campuses in the California State University system. The campus is an urban, comprehensive public university serving the extended South Bay area of the Los Angeles basin. As the student government organization, the ASI represents the concerns of the students. Through their membership representation on various University committees and groups, the ASI has a substantial influence on many important decisions. The ASI also provides programs and services to the student body.
Position Description
The Graphics Designer is responsible for creating and coordinating all visual aspects of advertising and promotion for the Associated Students, Inc. The Graphics Designer is responsible for developing and maintaining the Associated Students, Inc. web site. In addition, he/she will develop promotional ideas and complete publicity requests.
Skills and Requirements :
Willingness to work with an ethnically diverse and culturally pluralistic student body and staff
Good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and complete assigned work duties and handle a wide variety of tasks at one time
Ability to develop and coordinate all visual aspects of advertising and promotion
Ability to perform color separations and digital photo editing
Knowledge of layout, paste-up and typesetting
Knowledge of website design, implementation and maintenance
Knowledge of HTML and WordPress
Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator and Photoshop
Experience with graphic design and layout
Specific Duties and Responsibilities :
Develops and creates all artwork for ad/promo campaigns
Coordinates layout and paste-up for ad/promo campaigns
Oversees typesetting of copy for ad/promo campaigns
Develops and creates artwork for flyers and advertisements
Consult with Program Coordinator to develop ad/promo packages as requested
Develops and maintains Associated Students, Inc. website and all ASI affiliated websites
Attend ad/promo meetings
Perform clerical support of office staff and ASI officers, as well as front desk clerk to answer phones and forward messages to appropriate individual, type letter and memos
Performs other duties as assigned
Conditions of Employment
Responsible to the ASI Marketing & Public Relations Coordinator
Rate: $17.28/hr
Workweek Class: Non-Exempt
Classification: Student Employee Level II
Work Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week, contingent upon operation need, academic scheduling, etc.
This position is employed by the Associated Students, Inc. and is subject to related personnel policies and procedures. This position serves at will and does not receive tenure or permanency.
