Summary
Prepares and delivers relevant course content using a variety of teaching methods and assessments that support student learning. Ensures that students achieve and demonstrate mastery of stated learning objectives.
Courses taught may include Editorial and Publication Design, Typography, Branding, Packaging, Vector Drawing, Portfolio Development, and Design Theory.

Essential Job Functions
Teaches assigned course(s) by delivering appropriate course content to students, preparing course materials and lesson plans, and addressing students questions and/or concernsMaintains accurate records of student attendance, academic achievement and performance in accordance with university policies and proceduresDistributes to each student, in each course, a university approved syllabus that includes course objectives, texts, attendance policy and materials required for course and evaluation criteriaCommunicates early with any student in danger of failure or in need of individual counselingRefers students to appropriate university sources for information, guidance, financial assistance, career development, etc.Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Minimum of a master's degree in graphic/visual design or a related field of study from a regionally accredited institution, or other appropriate accreditation as determined by Johnson & Wales UniversityExperience working in design or in other related workExperience working in and/or teaching variations of the following: graphic design, Adobe Creative Suite, drawing, physical craft/prototyping and/or photography.Proficient in digital design-related software applications such as Adobe Creative Suite.Strong knowledge of current industry standards for the creative process, phases of design, production, prototyping/printing, and professional practice in the field.Ability to prepare lectures and demonstrations and effectively communicate relevant concepts to students.Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to present course materials in an interesting and intelligent manner.Ability to teach classes during daytime and/or evening hoursSuccessful candidates must be committed to working effectively with diverse student populations
