Responsible for the preparation of patients, collection of information pertinent to the test, performance of the specified test and interpretation of the recording for the purpose of informing a physician of critical problems and writing informal preliminary reports for the Sleep Fellow.
Essential Job Functions
Performs routine polysomnograms
Performs CPAP/BiPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) titrations
Explains procedure and prepares patient for requested test
Obtains relevant information and a patient history from the patient, patient’s chart or referring physician
With assistance, is able to obtain special montage electroencephalographic or polysomnographic recordings during all night evaluations
Performs the specified test and interprets the recording for the purpose of informing a physician of critical problems
Writes an informal preliminary report for physician’s use only
Uses video-monitoring equipment to obtain quality taping of patient’s nocturnal activity
Makes appropriate calibrations to the equipment for standard recordings
Keeps equipment clean and in good operating condition, detects instrument malfunctions and notifies Chief Technologist of any problems
Scores sleep records as required
Plays a role in the general flow and operation of the Sleep Lab including all paperwork (billing, logging, patient files), quality of recordings and patient satisfaction
Performs other duties as requested by senior management
Required Qualifications
Minimum of a High School diploma and the completion of preparation modules for a registration certificate in Polysomnographic Technology (RPSGT or RST)
Registered Respiratory Therapist will also qualify
Must be CPR certified from the American Heart Association (AHA)
RPSGT (Registered Polysomnographic Technologist) or RST (Registered Sleep Technologist) certification within one year of hire
Must have knowledge in these areas:
Polysomnography (attended and unattended recordings)
CPAP/BiPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) titrations
Sleep Disorders (Parasomnias, Sleep Apnea, etc)
MSLTs (Multiple Sleep Latency Tests)
O2/CO2 (oxygen administration and CO2 values)
Experience with patient education (unattended device set-up, CPAP use and compliance)
Troubleshooting equipment
Preferred Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited 2-year program in Electroneuro diagnostics.
Minimum of four years’ experience (including clinical) in the field of sleep disorders.

The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.
The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
