Overview
Our public relations professional manages SA Recycling’s image and relationships with the public. Our goal of PR is to create and maintain a positive image for our region of SA Recycling, to improve communication channels and build a mutual understanding between SA Recycling SAV Region and the public
Job Duties Including, but not limited to:
Build relationships: Engage with various stakeholders such as Chamber of Commerce, lobbyists, local business organizations to shape public perception
- Create media: Write press releases, newsletters, and social media content and coordinate with SA Marketing Manager Carl Daniels for postings.
- Manage media relations: Respond to media inquiries, coordinate interviews, and pitch stories to journalists
- Develop social media: Create social media programs to increase awareness of SA Recycling’s services, outreach and community benefits
- Respond to crises: Help develop a crisis communication plan and respond to negative press
- Liaison to SA’s current marketing consultants: Coordinate with Dave Simon and Bunny Ware to further our public relations efforts in a productive and efficient manner

- Ability to travel, mostly day trips but the occasional overnight, as this is a regional position that stretches from Savannah, west of Swainsboro and south to the state line
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in public relations, preferably within the environmental or sustainability sector.
- Employees in this position prior to April 2014 are presumed to be qualified and are "grandfathered" into their positions.
- Must pass a medical physical and drug test
- Must pass a background check and credit check
- Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus
- Ability to: communicate with others effectively; understand direction (written or oral) and use basic math skills as the job demands
- A basic understanding of the Scrap Industry and MS Office products
- Work Environment: Scrap Office
- Equipment & Tools: Personal computer, multi-line phone, Laser printer
- Physical Demand Level: Light to Moderate
- Work Capacity: Lifting & carrying 35lb loads, bending, kneeling, and sitting for long periods.
