Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented and creative Design Assistant to join our dynamic team. This role will support our design staff in a variety of functions, including developing design concepts, managing materials, assisting with construction documentation, and ensuring all projects meet client expectations and deadlines. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for design, strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced creative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare Design Presentations and Materials: Create and assemble design presentations to effectively communicate concepts to clients.
- Manage Design Assets and Files: Organize and maintain design resources, files, and documents, ensuring all materials are properly archived and easily accessible.
- Support the Team in Meeting Project Deadlines: Assist with coordinating timelines and deliverables, ensuring the team stays on track to meet all project deadlines.
- Select Materials and Order Samples: Assist team in researching and selecting appropriate materials, ordering samples, and organizing them for client review and approval.
- Vendor Communication: Communicate clearly and efficiently with vendors regarding product availability, pricing, lead times, and scheduling team training.
- Materials Library Organization and Management: Manage and maintain a well-organized materials library, ensuring all samples, products, and resources are cataloged and easily accessible.
- Assist in Generating Construction Documentation in Chief Architect: Support the team in creating detailed construction documentation, including floor plans, elevations, and 3D renderings using Chief Architect software. Assist in preparing finish schedules.
- Receive, Store, and Maintain Inventory: Oversee the receipt, storage, and organization of materials and products, ensuring accurate inventory management.
- Support General Office Clerical Needs: Manage the office phone line, order office supplies, and handle other administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the office.
- Assist with Installations, Deliveries, and Photoshoots: Provide logistical and hands-on support during installations, deliveries, and photoshoots.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 1+ year of experience or internship in a similar environment (interior design, architecture, etc.) preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD or similar tools. Proficiency in Chief Architect preferred but not required. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients, vendors, and team members. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Education: A degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field is a plus but not required.
- Other Requirements: Ability to lift and handle materials and samples in library management and presentation preparation.
