We are currently seeking a Principal Piping Designer, to join our team based in Claremont, CA.About the JobReporting to the project Piping Lead, the Principal Piping Designer will develop equipment and piping design including equipment layout and nozzle orientation where applicable using process information ( PFD, P&ID) as the basis to support project deliverable requirement. Design activities covers all phases of project development including PDP, FEED and Detail engineering. Responsibilities: Equipment modeling Nozzle, ladder and platform orientation for towers and other vessels Pipe modeling Isometric extraction Work with other department as well as disciplines to resolve design conflicts (e.g. pipe routing/support and or clashes with other model objects). Supervise/mentor juniors and intermediates including in overseas workshare offices. Ensure review and check of engineering and design deliverables Develop tie-point packages Field walk-downs, supervision of tie-point identification and tagging. Qualifications/Experience Minimum of 20 years piping layout and design experience Strong knowledge of Intergraph S3D (and PDS) Capable of conceptualizing and layout of complex plant equipment including compressors, reactors etc. Extensive knowledge and experience with nozzles, ladders and platforms orientation for complex towers and other equipment items. Ability to extract othographics (plot plan, general arrangements) from 3D model Ability to work on own with minimum supervision Ability to conceptualize and develop layout from preliminary process data (P&ID and data sheets) Experience working in brownfield environment and keen understanding of construction methodologies as it pertains to installing engineering design in tight turnaround windows within an existing facility. Ability to work with laser scan data in the 3D model environment Must also have a strong working knowledge of recognized industry codes standards and practices.
