Job Description:
The UI/UX Design Intern contributes to ONC’s mission of providing nonpartisan news, opinions, and policy solution-focused and driven by youth completing essential tasks in the technology department. We are 80% done building our website, and need extra support to clean up a few page designs, fix some bugs, complete a few pages, and tighten up the main website. This Intern will work in FIGMA or even WP, but they are also responsible for creating designs including, but not limited graphics for our website, newsletters, advertisements, fliers etc. This is not a theoretical internship. The work done will be incorporated into our site quickly, giving the opportunity to add to a portfolio. This intern will work closely with the COO, CEO, Team Lead, Director of Technology and other UI/UX Design Interns while also working independently. ****
This position is remote, with work primarily conducted over Zoom and Slack, so applicants must be comfortable coordinating in a remote environment and are expected to maintain a high level of communication. This intern must commit to at least the end of the Summer semester (April 30, 2025). However, many people choose to extend their internship past the amount of time they initially committed to, provided their performance meets the required standards.

Responsibilities:
Conceptualize designs for our website redesign
Review our existing website, make recommendations, and design edits for our website.
Review, make recommendations, and design edits for our mobile app.
Assist with new designs and/or design elements for pages on our website.
Assist with the design of our newsletter, and input information on a weekly basis.
Communicate with the CEO, COO, Director of Technology and UI/UX Design Team Lead professionally about designs, necessary layouts and content, timelines and ideas.
Qualifications: Qualifications
Requirements:
The UI/UX Design Intern should have the following skills, education, and experience:
Interest in UI/UX Design or working towards a degree in Graphic Design, UI/UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science and/or related fields
Experience with the modern design and prototyping software Figma required
Working knowledge of WordPress, PHP, Python or similar front-end frameworks preferred
Knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop a plus
Responsive, consistent, and effective communicator, even during conflict
Ability to work remotely and on their own schedule in order to make deadlines
Submit a portfolio of previous work to demonstrate your skills.
Ability to attend the weekly Organization-Wide meetings
Ability to attend weekly UI/UX Design team meetings
Must be authorized to intern in the U.S.
