The Senior Commercial Lines Account & Marketing Manager will guide and assist agency personnel in placing all commercial lines business, ensuring adherence to carrier premium volume requirements and commitments. This role involves marketing new and renewal business, meeting all deadlines promptly, maintaining agency standards, and handling projects independently and creatively.
Job Responsibilities Participate in discussions and reviews of the current market situation for specific accounts Maintain knowledge of the current marketplace and capabilities for providing risk placement alternatives Provide detailed direction for assembling pertinent information necessary for complete applications, and review applications for market identification and submission requirements Perform underwriting functions to ensure classification and rating are complete and accurate Negotiate pricing, policy conditions, and terms with selected companies, and review all quotations with recommendations for the best options regarding price, coverage, and risk alternatives Provide Producers with complete proposals for each accepted and quoted risk, at least two weeks prior to appointments Maintain positive relationships with company representatives through proper contacts and effective communication Assist Producers and Account Managers with technical issues when necessary Check new policies for accuracy in coverages, forms, and premium charges Ensure compliance with non-resident and countersignature arrangements for out-of-state business Document all material conversations with insureds and/or carriers regarding exposures and coverages Perform other functions as assigned by management
Required Qualifications College degree or equivalent experience. 10 years of experience in underwriting and marketing with a major insurance company. Licenses required to discuss or place insurance as mandated by the State Department of Insurance in states where the agency operates. Professional designations such as CISR, CIC, or CRM. Proficiency with personal computers, agency automation systems, and software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Skills Excellent technical knowledge of commercial insurance, including a thorough understanding of all forms of commercial coverages and risk alternatives. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Ability to take initiative, be a self-starter, and influence others effectively.
Additional Notes: The location of the role will be in person in our Grand Rapids, Michigan office Hours for the role is as follows: 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday – Thursday, 8:00am – 4:30pm Friday (Memorial Day through Labor Day we close at 4:00pm on Friday) The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the people assigned to this job.
