Established in 1988, a boutique architecture firm based in Los Angeles, California, is seeking a highly motivated Project Designer to join their growing studio!
Fostering an environment of open communication and seamless teamwork cultivated over the years, the studio consistently delivers the highest level of service. The firm offers comprehensive architectural services, spanning initial project analysis, conceptual design, construction documents, construction administration, and project close-out. Additionally, they provide services in feasibility studies, analysis, master planning, and project management, demonstrating their commitment to delivering holistic solutions to their clients.
The firm's portfolio includes a wide spectrum of projects, ranging from healthcare, civic centers, mixed-use, commercial (offices & restaurants), and residential spaces to administrative complexes, educational institutions, and industrial facilities.
Note: Their current studio is based in Glendale. The office is planning to move to Mid-Wilshire in January 2025.
Position Overview

The ideal candidate should possess great problem-solving skills, excel in both independent and collaborative work environments, and have experience preparing design presentations and working directly with clients. Key Responsibilities
- Be an integral member of architectural projects from conception to completion.
- Develop design concepts and solutions for various projects, from initial sketches to detailed drawings
- Create and refine architectural plans, elevations, sections, and 3D models using Revit
- Collaborate with senior architects and project teams throughout all project phases, including conceptual design, schematic design, design development, and construction documentation
- Conduct research on building codes, zoning laws, and regulations to ensure design compliance
- Participate in site visits to gather information and assess project requirements
- Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and other consultants to integrate building systems and resolve technical issues
- Contribute to the development of construction documents, including detailed drawings and specifications
- Assist in construction administration tasks, such as reviewing submittals and responding to RFIs (Requests for Information)
- Help manage project timelines and deliverables to meet deadlines and client expectations
- Stay updated on industry trends, sustainable design practices, and new technologies relevant to architectural design
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to a collaborative studio environment
- Participate in client meetings and assist in communicating design ideas effectively
- Support the development of project budgets and cost estimates
- Contribute to the firm's quality control processes to ensure high standards of design and documentation
- Prepare design presentations, including renderings, diagrams, and other visual materials for client meetings
- Manage small projects with guidance from senior architects, overseeing the design process from concept to completion
- Keeps lead architect or designated team leader informed of progress; recognizes problem issues and communicates impact to the team and seeks clarity when necessary.
- Meets project design schedule and design construction budgets.
Qualifications
Preferred candidates will have:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture
- 3 years of post-professional experience
- Interest in working on diverse project types in a very collaborative environment
- Proficiency in Revit & AutoCAD required; experience with SketchUp, Enscape, and other graphic tools desired
- Strong 2D and 3D graphic skills desired
- Experience in tenant improvement, healthcare, industrial, community or multi-family housing projects highly desirable
