Job Goal:
Edit and proofread written publications to ensure consistency of organization image, clarity, accuracy, and relevance.
Qualifications:
Education
Certification/Licensure
Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field
Experience
Three years of experience in editing and proofreading publications, including textbooks, letters, catalogs, brochures, flyers, advertisements, websites, and other written materials.
Special Knowledge and Skills
- Expert-level proficiency in recent versions of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, etc.
- Knowledge of copyright laws and regulations relating to print and web-based content
- Understanding of the editorial and publication guidelines of The Chicago Manual of Style
- Effective time management skills with the ability to manage multiple editing projects simultaneously
- Quick learner with the willingness and curiosity to learn new things
- Effective and diplomatic written and verbal communication skills
Experience in educational setting
Major Responsibilities:
- Edit/proofread publications, including textbooks, letters, catalogs, brochures, flyers, advertisements, websites, and other written materials for accuracy, clarity, and relevance.
- Collaborate with graphics design staff and project stakeholders to produce quality products and marketing materials.
- Educate center personnel on best practices for writing
- Effectively and diplomatically communicate edits and feedback to project stakeholders.
- Support Region 4 events as assigned.
- Provide technical assistance and services as specified by any applicable federal grant that funds this position.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors/ Mental Demands:
Frequent use of standard office equipment; prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; repetitive hand motions (keyboarding and use of mouse); occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 20 pounds); may work prolonged and irregular hours; occasional overnight travel; work with frequent interruptions in a fast-paced environment; maintain emotional control under pressure.
