About this Role: The Director of Global VM and Retail Design will ensure that all Youth To The People brand standards are consistently expressed across all retail formats in global markets. This role requires a flexible schedule, primarily Monday through Thursday, and involves close collaboration with internal and external teams to oversee the design and development of various aspects of VM and retail design.
Job Description: - Serve as the gatekeeper to ensure brand standards are maintained in all retail formats globally. - Partner closely with internal and external teams to oversee store/shop layouts, fixture design, merchandising displays, lighting, furniture, materials, and planograms. - Evolve concepts through design development for management approvals. - Utilize CAD for creating and modifying layouts and drawings daily. - Use 3D software, specifically SketchUp with VRAY, for design tasks. - Review VM, architectural, construction, and fixture/millwork shop drawings. - Manage vendors, coordinate day-to-day activities, and gather costs for approvals. - Understand material costs, construction trades, and processes that impact design. - Collaborate with Creative and Marketing teams to implement new selling strategies. - Stay informed about the competitive retail environment, focusing on the beauty marketplace. - Apply knowledge of sustainable design methodologies and materials. - Integrate digital technologies into the retail space.
Qualifications: Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in graphic design, VM, interior design, or architecture. - Minimum of 7 years of design experience, ideally in retail or hospitality. - Stellar design aptitude and conceptual thinking. - Experience managing processes to develop clear and concise design solutions aligned with business strategies. - Strong project management skills to handle multiple projects with global affiliates and Zone teams. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with multiple business partners and cross-functional teams. - Strong knowledge of basic fixture and cabinet construction detailing and methods. - Awareness of design/industry trends, new concepts, materials, and innovations. - Creative abilities in sketching, conceptual rendering, and space planning. - Understanding of general building codes, ADA codes, and interior standards. - Comprehensive working knowledge of AutoCAD and SketchUp with VRAY. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, Outlook, Excel). - Expert communication and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in beauty or luxury VM/retail design. - Knowledge of sustainable design methodologies and materials.
