The A.S. Graphic Studio Sr. Artist is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Graphic Studio. This includes conceptualizing, developing, planning, creating, and producing complex print, web-based, and animated promotional and marketing materials to support the services and events offered by the Associated Students.The position requires working independently to determine the need for graphic design materials such as flyers, posters, displays, and advertisements. Additionally, the A.S. Graphic Studio Sr. Artist hires, trains, and provides work direction to student graphic artists. The role involves working independently on print design from concept, layout, and image manipulation, through production and prepress, to printing.The ideal candidate must have knowledge of web design using HTML, Dreamweaver, database environments, and file preparation procedures. Proficiency in using multimedia computer software and digital hardware, as well as MacIntosh hardware and software, is essential. The position demands a high level of design and technical skills, a strong commitment to customer service, experience in advising and working collaboratively with a diverse group of clients, sound organizational skills, and the ability to meet critical deadlines.QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school, two years of art training, and three years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledges and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of principles and practices of graphic arts, printing, and multimedia industry. Experience managing a graphic design company.
Demonstrated ability to work independently in determining the need for graphic design and interpreting textual content and concepts in a variety of print and multimedia projects.
Proven knowledge and experience with MacIntosh platform in a networked environment. Proven experience with MacIntosh software: primarily Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and QuarkXPress.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills of desktop publishing software and traditional letter, typesetting and layout in the design production of a wide variety of complex promotional materials. Knowledge of printing terminology and design.
Demonstrated ability to produce camera-ready art using conventional and electronic equipment for design and production of a range of publications, including a multicolor multipage publication.
Demonstrated skills and knowledge in designing web sites, using web development software such as Dreamweaver, Flash, and HTML, and working with computer specialists who manage hardware systems and administer web sites.
Demonstrated skills and knowledge in preparing detailed specification instructions for printers and working other local graphic designers and outside printers and vendors.
Demonstrated skills and knowledge in using office word processing and spreadsheet software including Microsoft Word and Excel as well as hardware.
Experience in using digital camera, video equipment, scanners, one and multi-color printers, computers and other multimedia equipment.
Ability to write and design copy for newspaper advertisements, web site, flyers, posters, publications, and other media.
Demonstrated excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to set goals and objectives. Ability to prioritize. Ability to be organized and meet deadlines.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Overtime and weekends may be required.

The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
