Job description: The Corporate Bookmaking team is seeking a Managing Editorial Assistant to join support the Random House Children’s Books division Daily responsibilities include all-around support in creating more than 800 titles a year. Working together as a team, the Managing Editorial department tracks manuscripts, covers, and marketing materials to ensure each title stays on schedule. Managing editors consider everyone’s needs and negotiate to ensure a process works for everyone. This job is an exciting opportunity to get an overview of the publishing process and act as a point of contact with various departments across Random House Children’s Books, including but not limited to Design, Editorial, Copyediting, Production, Marketing, and Sales. The Managing Editorial Assistant should be highly motivated, superbly organized, and enthusiastic about bookmaking. We are looking for a detail-oriented, meticulous self-starter who is invested in the process of bringing books to a wide readership. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, communicates clearly, and will be an active participant in a collaborative team. Applicants should be prepared to manage a diverse set of responsibilities efficiently and effectively and be comfortable asking for help when needed. In summary, you would be expected to perform administrative and general office duties that contribute to the day-to-day function of the Managing Editorial Department Specific responsibilities include: Prepares reports using a combination of title information tracking systems including SAP, FMP, MyHouse, and MyReports for multiple departments and purposes Responds to routine requests for information and files and refers more complex requests to the appropriate staff member Tracks status of digital sales materials each publishing span Prepares and manages Edelweiss catalog for each publishing span Organizes record of title information changes Liaison with outside text-leveling services (Lexile and Fountas & Pinnell) Tracks invoices and payments Assists with reprint routing and corrections General troubleshooting Special projects as assigned Performs administrative duties such as maintaining digital files, ordering supplies, and note-taking Please apply if you meet the following qualifications: Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Strong attention to detail and accuracy Excellent organizational and multitasking skills Professional and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders Self-motivated and proactive Ability to reprioritize tasks as needed The PRH office is located in New York, New York.
