Director of Events at Sound & Images, Inc.
Position Summary: Responsible for preparing, loading, and utilizing necessary equipment to ensure completion of successful events with a high level of customer service.
Core Responsibilities and Duties:
- Load, set-up, and breakdown event equipment according to safety standards, equipment specs, and direction from management.
- Operate audio, visual, and other equipment according to customer needs during events.
- Contribute to event planning, including accessibility, vendor coordination, pre-and post-event communications, permitting, and evaluation.
- Perform initial site visits and evaluate the environment and assess the most suitable solutions based on the client’s budget and the event’s needs.
- Assist with the plan and execution of events based on the needs and budget of the client.
- Pack equipment and supplies going to/from events utilizing inventory management systems.
- Test and maintain event equipment to ensure proper function.
- Provide a high level of customer service, including under pressure.
- Maintain accurate customer records and documentation.
- Other duties as assigned and/or needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Technical / Vocational education related to Communications or Audio/Visual, or equivalent practical experience.
- Competent in basic audio/visual equipment set-up, use, and purpose knowledge.
- At least one (1) year of experience in a similar role.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Desired Competencies:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; troubleshoot issues.
- The ability to build strong relationships through high-level communication skills, face-to-face, email and phone.
- Strong organizational skills, and the ability to effectively perform job duties under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Detail-oriented and must be able to multi-task while managing time successfully.
- Experience with audio/visual equipment and live events.
Working Conditions:
- May work inside or outside dependent upon the client venue and set-up location.
- May be exposed to photosensitive visuals, including strobe lights.
- May be exposed to high sustained ambient sound levels.
- Must be flexible to work evenings and/or weekends, including events held on weekends, nights, and holidays when necessary.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Bend, stand, stoop, and kneel to reach install areas.
- Lift, carry, and move products, equipment, and tools to and from job site daily.
- Ability to climb ladders and work from lifting platforms according to safety standards.
