Title and Qualifications
Title: Library Media/Information Assistant
Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalency. Experience in computer operations and related fields. Knowledge of library software preferred. Ability to interact positively with teachers and administrators. Knowledge of instructional technology in a school environment.
Supervision and Employment Terms
Immediate Supervisor: Building Principal
Terms of Employment: Ten-month school year; salary and work hours as per the Board of Education agreement with Grayslake PSRP Council, Local 504, IFT-AFT, AFL-CIO.
Job Goal
Assist in providing an efficient information, research, and media program for district students, staff, and community. Support faculty, parents, and staff with media materials and equipment use, aligned with district curriculum.
Professional Qualifications
- Experience with computers and software
- Knowledge of school application technology and staff development
- Keyboarding and computer literacy skills
- Understanding of software licensing and hardware/software installation
- Ability to troubleshoot computer issues
- Record-keeping skills
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Performance Responsibilities
- Manage daily library activities, assist with book checkout and shelving
- Oversee media inventories and circulation
- Support media program operation and maintenance
- Assist in developing the building media budget
- Maintain media materials and equipment inventory
- Train staff on media resources
- Understand district goals related to media
- Organize and inventory media materials and equipment
- Implement security measures to prevent loss or damage
- Support the district's Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
- Perform additional duties as assigned by administration
