What you’ll do at OhioMHAS:
Maintains efficient communications on a 24-hour basis: receives & transmits radio communication for Northcoast Behavioral Healthcare (NBH) personnel (e.g., Police Officers, Doctors, Nurses, Safety Officer, Maintenance); dispatches personnel & equipment as events occur, relays & clarifies information for personnel; creates/maintains/distributes a list of current mobiles/cell phones; operates in-house overhead paging system; inputs/deletes information; monitors all alarms (e.g., fire, generator, weather, etc.); maintains corresponding logs & records; maintains office security by ensuring building entry doors are locked; responds to code situations (e.g., red, black, gray, orange, blue, yellow & violet) with correct procedure; records all pertinent information.
Operates VOIP equipment: answers & extends all incoming telephone traffic; places local, long distance and international calls for NBH personnel; places support team calls to unit pagers; ensures information on all long distance calls is accounted for; updates records/files in order to provide NBH personnel with informational services; updates/deletes/changes voice mail/speed dial systems & creates corresponding records; provides Language Interpreter Services by connecting NBH personnel with contracted vendor; provides outside X-Ray services by connecting NBH personnel with contracted vendor; implements Call-Back procedure needed after regular working hours for maintenance problems, snow removal, housekeeping clean-up, code brown, etc.; exchanges required information daily from shift to shift; operates telephone computer system by inputting/changing/deleting information; notifies IT department for all telephone repair calls or NBH maintenance department needed to do repair; answers immediately the "2222 Emergency Line" (separate extension) with appropriate personnel & procedure after caller gives location & type of emergency (e.g., fire, code violet, code blue etc.).
Maintains written logs & records regarding daily activity in record book, newspaper receipts, long distance logs and vending machine refunds; forwards employees reporting off to call off line; conducts mail room duties by filing/stamping mail & issuing NBH car books; operates desk PC to access programs (e.g., Outlook, PCS, Lotus, etc.); updates NBH phone directory as needed.
Performs other radio dispatcher duties: reads & understands NBH Hospital-Wide Policy Updates; attends all mandated training classes; maintains map of Hospital's grounds; greets/provides directions both in person & on phone to visitors, visiting dignitaries, delivery personnel, etc.; ensures fire department keys are signed out (recorded on key log) by authorized personnel/contractors; distributes refunds to visitors from vending machines; maintains directory containing emergency numbers (e.g., Police Departments, Ambulance Companies, Hospitals etc.); answers T.D.D.Y Machine (separate line) after auto answering & responds with appropriate information; maintains & updates all other forms & logs used in Switchboard Dept; follows other department procedures (refrigerator control sheet, memo board, etc.); performs housekeeping services due to 24-hour schedule.
This is an hourly position covered by the OCSEA/AFSCME bargaining unit (union), with a pay range of #5 on the OCSEA Pay Range Schedule. Normal working hours are Variable DAYS, Variable SHIFT(s). This position is located within our CHOOSE A BUILDING at CHOOSE A LOCATION.
Unless required by any applicable union contract and/or requirements of the Ohio Revised Code, the selected candidate will begin at Step 1 of the pay range schedule. Pay increase of 4.5% July 1, 2025 and a 3% increase July 1, 2026.
