Position Summary
The fall fundraiser will occur September 9-12. Spring fundraiser date is TBD.
As a Phone Operator, your responsibilities include taking calls from listeners and donors during fundraisers and accurately entering their gift or pledge information with attention to detail. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, basic computer and typing skills, and previous customer service experience are preferred.
There is a mandatory training session prior to starting, covering the use of our gift registration system. The session can be via video or in person, up to 1 hour, and is paid.
Responsibilities include:
- Answering incoming calls enthusiastically
- Entering caller and donation information accurately
- Maintaining confidentiality of all donor information
- Abiding by all University policies
Wage: $12.48 per hour
Eligibility and Requirements
Open to individuals enrolled in at least one on-campus traditional course at UNW. Prior to employment, valid documentation of employment eligibility must be presented—original documents only. A list of acceptable documents is available on uscis.gov.
Qualifications
- Detail-oriented, organized, and self-disciplined
- Professional, tactful, and courteous interaction skills
- Strong phone and customer service skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Proficient computer skills and accurate data entry
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Agreement with University of Northwestern’s Declaration of Christian Community and Doctrinal Statement
Working Conditions
Self-direction, concentration, personal grooming, reading, writing, problem-solving, and tact are required approximately 75% of the time. Time awareness and verbal reasoning are needed about 60% of the time.
Physical demands include sitting (60%), walking (30%), standing (10%), lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds, reaching, fingering, talking, and hearing (60%). Work involves contact with others and adherence to university policies in a Christian environment.
