Overview
Freelance Graphic Designer (Packaging & Print)
FreshCut Paper is a rapidly growing and evolving design forward startup. We are entering into the $8 Billion cut flower industry with a green, cost-effective contemporary alternative. Created by renowned designer Peter Hewitt in 2020, our life-sized pop-up floral bouquets consist of breathtaking blooms that are wilt-proof, care-free, and non-allergenic. We are poised to take a bite out of the $8 billion fresh cut flower industry and the $6 billion greeting card market. Our product is a compelling, contemporary alternative way to send flowers.
Beyond having a fraction of the carbon footprint of imported flowers, we plant a tree for every bouquet sold and are partners with 1% for the Planet and ASPCA. Our beautiful office is located in the historical Bradford Mill alongside a community of start-ups and artists.
What You'll Do
- Design compelling print materials, including catalogs (twice a year), direct mailers, product packaging, brochures, display signage, and other marketing collateral as needed.
- Work efficiently by leveraging existing templates to meet tight deadlines and contribute creatively to brainstorming and develop new design ideas.
- Collaborate closely with our creative director, marketing, and in-house teams to ensure compelling visuals and project goals lead to successful business objectives.
- Ensure high-quality production by preparing print-ready files and working closely with printers and vendors.
Requirements
- A strong portfolio that showcases your creativity and experience in print design (we'd love to see examples of catalogs, direct mailers, product packaging, brochures, and display signage).
- Experience working for US-based consumer retail brands a plus.
- Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), with an emphasis on InDesign for layout work.
- Strong knowledge of design principles, typography, color theory, and composition.
- Understanding of print production processes and file preparation.
- Flexibility and adaptability—you can collaborate well with leadership, take creative direction, and refine your designs based on feedback.
- Great communication and organizational skills—you can explain your ideas clearly and take direction constructively.
- Bonus points if you have experience in digital design, but it's not an immediate need.
This role will be project-based and remote with the ability to visit our office and be in person to collaborate on special projects as needed.
