Summary
Visit Shreveport-Bossier (VSB) seeks a Marketing Coordinator to help execute the overall strategic Communications and Marketing plan to attract visitors to Shreveport and Bossier City (Shreveport-Bossier). The Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for utilizing data and research to find creative ways to promote tourism locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally, to partner with community leaders, and to collaborate effectively with all team members.
The ideal candidate is a Marketing professional who has proven success working in a similar capacity and has strong organizational, writing, editing, and creative design skills. This individual should be able to manage multiple responsibilities and projects independently and within a group environment. They must be inspired to positively contribute to the organizations overall culture at Visit Shreveport-Bossier.
Essential Functions/Accountabilities
- Establish KPIs and goals for the position, analyzing and implementing strategic decisions regularly.
- Contribute integrally with the team to the development of the annual strategic marketing plan and campaign projects to promote our area to leisure, business, and sports travelers.
- Build brand awareness locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally through cohesive, results-driven marketing and advertising.
- Collaborate with the Director of Marketing & Communications for the creation, finalization and implementation of marketing plans.
- Oversee advertising needs and work with publications, partners, and contract agencies to deliver.
- Responsible for leading advertising research efforts to enhance the departments strategic planning.
- Lead the production of major annual publications such as the Official Visitors Guide to Shreveport-Bossier and the Visit Shreveport-Bossier Business Plan.
- Develop, gather and verify information for the organizations publications, flyers, rack cards, brochures, and other related materials.
- Coordinate with partners and departments to ensure an adequate supply of necessary items, such as brochures, letterheads, business cards, and envelopes.
- Ensure the development of promotional materials for all department needs, such as PowerPoint presentations, commercials, professional photography and videography, etc.
- Lead the RFP process and database management for vendors and partners collaborated with to develop promotional materials.
- Update quarterly on-hold phone messages that include event promotions.
- Provide support to the management of all social media outlets, collaborating with and assisting the PR & Digital Content Manager on an as-needed basis.
- Assist the department Vice President with the attraction marketing assistance program that includes billboards, brochure co-ops, advertising co-ops, SBFunGuide.com opportunities, digital billboards, web opportunities, and social media opportunities.
- Engage in public speaking to promote tourism, business travel, and sporting events in Shreveport-Bossier.
- Stay current on industry trends and best practices and share insights with team members.
- Participate in appropriate professional associations and attend events, as needed, to promote tourism, business travel, and VSB sporting events.
- Collaborate with external consultants as assigned to execute overall marketing strategy and produce on-brand, high-quality assets.
- Contribute to content calendar discussions and assist with campaigns as assigned.
- Engage in educational opportunities to benefit growth within the position, such as CRM and advertising webinars, and implement skills learned successfully before moving forward.
- Manage invoices specific to the positions responsibilities and return them to the Director of Marketing & Communications in a timely manner.
- Other duties and responsibilities as needed to ensure ongoing success and a positive work environment for VSB.
Desired Qualities
- Four-year degree from an academic institution in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Journalism, Graphic Design, or a related field.
- One to three years of marketing-related professional experience.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills as well as a command of grammar, usage, and vocabulary.
- Strong organization and project management skills.
- Ability to collaborate with team members and community partners.
- Proficiency in design storytelling and understanding of Adobe Creative Cloud
- Able to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to leverage multiple sources for research-related requests.
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional comprehension/editing skills.
- Familiarity with the local area.
- Experience working within a database and ability to operate Microsoft Office applications.
Travel/Job Requirements
- Frequent travel locally and nationally will be necessary
- Ability to work weekends, evenings and/or holidays as required
Minimum Qualifications
- Excellent copywriting skills
- Bachelors degree preferred
- Knowledge of marketing channels
- Storytelling and multitasking skills
- Ability to deliver creative content (text, image, and video)
- Hands-on experience in content management
