Job Summary:
The Polysomnographic Technologist is responsible for gathering information, setting up, and calibrating polysomnograms and ancillary equipment. This role involves monitoring and recording overnight test procedures, as well as scoring polysomnograms for infant through adult patients. The technologist is expected to adhere to the customer service standards established by MetroHealth Medical Center, ensuring accurate and high-quality test results.
Key Responsibilities: Polysomnography Testing: Set up, calibrate, and monitor polysomnograms and ancillary equipment. Record overnight test procedures to gather accurate data for scoring. Score polysomnograms on patients ranging from infants to adults, ensuring correct interpretation of the data. Patient Care and Communication: Provide clear and effective communication with patients before, during, and after testing. Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the testing process. Maintain a professional, compassionate, and courteous demeanor at all times. Customer Service: Adhere to customer service standards set forth by MetroHealth Medical Center. Address patient concerns or questions in a timely and professional manner. Mandatory Qualifications: Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (PSG), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), or Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in the state of Ohio. Registered Electroencephalography (EEG) Technician certification. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association only. Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification. Required Licenses/Certifications:
Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (PSG), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), or EEG Technician certification. Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, stoop, and ambulate intermittently throughout the day. Ability to sit for extended periods when necessary. Must have normal visual acuity, with or without correction. Must have normal hearing ability, with or without correction. Required finger dexterity to operate office equipment. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs occasionally. Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective face-to-face, phone, email, and other forms of communication.
