Copywriters are responsible for taking the client's messaging strategy and creating, in tandem with a designer, bespoke creative ideas and copy that grab the attention of target audiences. They will employ their knowledge of business, popular culture and new marketing trends and techniques to conceptualize, write, hone and produce marketing deliverables that drive desire for IAPP products and services and motivate customers to take action. They must also possess strong interpersonal skills, work well in a team environment and be comfortable presenting their work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Meet with marketing managers to discuss client messages and requirements. Work with marketing team members and colleagues from business units to understand IAPP products, services and target audiences, including the purpose, goals and measures of success for all projects. Brainstorm copy and visual ideas with members of the creative and marketing team to develop bespoke concepts for a range of IAPP campaigns and initiatives. Write, edit, fact check and proofread copy for all manner of unique sales enablement materials, direct-response email, direct mail, collateral, website updates, social media posts, broadcast vehicles and other content. Ensure copy is strategically on target and promotes the IAPP voice and personality at all times. Throughout the production process, anticipate or identify challenges to strategy or execution and communicate issues and suggested solutions to decision-makers. Present and sell ideas to internal marketing team and clients for approvals. Assist with video and audio production issues, such as talent, music and sound effects selection. Remain current on copy best practices and processes, including IAPP and AP style guides. Regularly review website to help maintain consistency and timeliness of information. Use CMS software to build and deploy scheduled promotional pieces for the website and online publications. Learn, follow and enforce marketing processes and procedures to enable efficient, effective workflows. Additional Duties

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; 3-5 years marketing copywriter experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Direct response marketing experience preferred.
