Position: Grant-writer – Part-time
Department: Lexington Agencies
Supervisor(s): Executive Director of the Lexington Agencies
FLSA Status: Exempt
Position Summary: Under the direction of the Executive Director of the Lexington Agencies, the Grant Writer will research and submit grants on behalf of the Lexington Center Agencies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Research grant and funding proposal opportunities in philanthropic databases to identify potential income sources for the Lexington agencies;
• Work with the Executive Director to focus on agency needs and viability of specific grants;
• Streamline grant submission processes, implementing tracking system for deadlines and requirements, ensuring timely and complete applications;
• Work with executive leadership, program staff, and finance to conceptualize and develop compelling, logical and clear grant proposals, supporting materials, and reports;
• Maximize funding potential by customizing each proposal to highlight unique aspects of programs and their alignment with funder interests;
• Improve grant reporting efficiency, creating standardized templates for narrative and financial reporting that aligned with funder specifications;
• Maintain and foster relationships with funding sources, private foundations and individuals;
• Collaborate with program staff to develop strong, outcomes-based grant applications that align with organization goals;
• Provide reports on a regular basis or as requested from the executive director or designee;
• Answer inquiries related to grants from individuals and funding sources, inside and outside the organization.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 4-6 years’ experience of successful grant writing in non-profit organizations;
• Knowledge of foundation and corporate giving is preferred;
• Experience in Federal grants, a plus.
• Experience in researching and identifying grants and other funding opportunities from all sources, to include but not limited to: city, state and federal organizations as well as private foundations;
• Excellent writing and communication skills;
• Advanced computer skills and superior knowledge of internet search engines;
• Strong time management and organizations skills strongly preferred.
SECURITY CLEARANCE:
• Required clearances include medical clearance, fingerprinted by the NYC Board of Ed, SCR, and SEL clearance
