Rockstar Games New York is looking for a highly talented and experienced Illustrator to work out of our unique NYC-based studio. The successful candidate will be working on a variety of exciting, creative, and cutting-edge projects. The ability to work quickly and efficiently as part of a team, take direction, and maintain a positive attitude under pressure is essential. This is a full-time, in-office position based out of Rockstar's NYC headquarters in Downtown Manhattan. The Creative Services team works on all creative related to Rockstar Games and games publishing. This can range from creating key art and in-game art for our games through to branding, merchandising, and everything in between. We work very closely with teams across all of publishing, as well as our development studios worldwide. Our illustrations are often the first thing people see on any Rockstar game, and we take great pride in creating artwork for this iconic brand. We are lovers of culture and creativity across all forms of media, and our work gives Rockstar’s products their unique look and feel from game art to stickers and special edition packaging to tattoos and giant billboards. Responsibilities include developing key art images for packaging, advertising, print and the web; developing illustrations from concept and sketches to finished product; closely mimicking pre-existing art styles; developing new art styles; and developing branding-based illustrations. Qualifications include mastery of Photoshop, 6+ years of experience in a relevant field (video games, film, or book publishing), and passion for contemporary culture, including video games, film, and art. Skills required are exceptional drawing and painting skills, strong knowledge of anatomy, gesture, composition, perspective, and use of color, exceptional and efficient sketching ability for developing illustration concepts, meticulous attention to detail, and ability to work in and quickly adapt a variety of art styles ranging from very graphic to photo realistic. Pluses include working knowledge of Blender. A portfolio is required to apply. The pay range for this position in New York State (inclusive of New York City) at the start of employment is expected to be between $102,000 - $143,000 USD per year. Base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on individualized factors. The total compensation package may also include other elements such as bonus and/or equity awards, and a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. The position is "at-will" and the company reserves the right to modify base salary and other compensation or benefits at any time.
