The GMC Alabama Architecture Studio has an opening for an Architecture Studio Leader -- Education in Montgomery, AL. The Education Studio Leader presents a unique opportunity for an individual looking to set themselves apart and further their career in a meaningful way in the K-12 and higher education market. As a leading firm in the education market, GMC has an established portfolio of award-winning work in this arena. The Education Studio Leader will be able to build on this momentum to continue growing the firm's education practice in Montgomery and Central Alabama, advancing its position as a leader in the market sector.
The role will consist of leading and mentoring team members, managing and designing education projects, building and maintaining relationships with clients and continuing to pursue and win work in the local area. The ideal candidate should have excellent leadership and communication skills and should be passionate about education design.

Essential functions and responsibilities include:
- Leads project team working within the GMC Education Community framework respecting team structure, project roles and responsibilities, and utilization of production tools and standards.
- Broad general knowledge of architectural principles and practices, and proven ability to apply them.
- Ability to function effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Ability to work on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects.
- Understanding of entire project process-development/scoping, design, and construction.
- Ability to design and detail a complete project, system component or process.
- Prepares complete project documents including the Project Manual/Specifications in coordination with a Specifications writer.
- Understands economic and decision analysis principals in area including financial, regulatory, and environmental issues.
- Proficient in Revit Architecture, and complementary design tools.
- Assigns tasks to and directs architects, technicians, and administrative staff.
- Plans and coordinates detailed aspects of the architectural work.
- Prepares scopes, budgets and schedules for assignments.
- Independently performs most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected.
- Interacts with clients, customers, officials, contractors, and others.
- Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of architectural assignment.
- Demonstrates leadership skills and continuous improvement with decision-making, time management and delegation.
- Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture from an accredited architectural program
- 10+ of years of relevant experience
- Architect registered in AL or completed NCARB Program
- Proficient in Revit or Autocad, and complementary design tools
- Must be able to listen and communicate effectively
- Must be a self-starter, team player and able to establish good working relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, team members, and other employees
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines
