Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced in-house graphic artist. Full-time, Monday-Friday. Responsible for reproducing or manipulating prepress graphics, design, and layout work in compliance with job specifications. Strong skills in Adobe Illustrator (CC) and Photoshop. Must be willing to learn new skills and work in a high-pressure environment to meet fast deadlines. Must be detail-orientated and proactive. Maintain good working relationships with production, sales, and customer service.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Design and Layout artwork in compliance with job specifications
- Create and Check plate files for flexo printing.
- Create and check files for digital printing
- Work under high-pressure to meet fast deadlines.
- Organize and track assigned jobs.
- Work with others and follow instructions.
- Maintain good working relationships with production, sales, and customer service.
- Communicate with customers as needed about art issues.
- Communicate with customers about the printability of art.
- Do color separations, traps, and stepping-out art.
- Understand line screens and hybrid screens.
- Color-Correct and Optimize Images
- Printing Contract Proofs and Mock-Ups
- Learn well about the production process.
- Reproduce or manipulate prepress graphics.
- Other responsibilities and duties may be required from time to time depending on the needs of the company
Skills and Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator (CC) and Photoshop
- Knowledge of Insite, Kodak Prinergy, and Esko Software is plus, but not necessary.
- Know how to work on a Mac computer.
- Must be willing to learn new skills.
- Must be able to work with others and follow instructions.
- Must organize and track assigned jobs.
- Must be detail-oriented and proactive.
- Have good working relationships with production, sales, and customer service.
- Ability to Color-Correct and Optimize Images
- Willing to understand the production process.
- Recognize potential printing problems and know how to resolve them.
- Know about color separations, traps, and stepping-out art.
- Understand how to create art for the majority of our products.
- Troubleshoot issues.
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- One to three years in design and/or graphics-related job
Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to satisfactorily see and differentiate color per adopted assessment methods in order to support efficient print production and print quality.
- Must be able to identify, prioritize, and meet multiple expectations for areas of responsibility.
- Willing to be trained in both specific and non-specific prepress and print production tasks as needed.
