Job Summary:
This position provides research grant writing support for clinician scientists across the Hartford HealthCare enterprise. The grant writer will proactively identify appropriate external funding opportunities from federal, state, foundation and private granting agencies that align with the Hartford HealthCare areas of clinical expertise. The grant writer will work collaboratively with research investigators to develop novel and impactful proposals that will be competitive for specific funding opportunities. The grant writer will provide invaluable assistance in the writing of the proposal and additional grant documents in accordance with the published application requirements. Responsibilities span the full lifecycle of grant writing from initial research and concept development, writing sections of the full proposal, managing application timelines/requirements. As the leader of the grant proposal team, the grant writer will take ownership of the final application and grant submission process.
Job Responsibilities:
· Identifies external grant funding opportunities available through federal, state, foundation, industry partners and alliances. Engages appropriate Hartford HealthCare clinicians in these opportunities. · Develops competitive research applications leading to successful funding awards. Creates and leads workgroups to respond to the grant funding opportunities of interest. Schedules recurring workgroup meetings, tracks progress toward grant submission addressing and responding to challenges as needed. · In collaboration with the Grants and Contracts Office and research investigator, supports the development of the grant budget and appropriate justification. · Functions as a thought leader and resource to others, acting proactively to develop ideas for new research proposals. · Participates in department efforts to promote quality research initiatives and increase presentation and publication rates. · Contributes to writing of research reports, meeting summaries, newsletter and press release documents as needed. · Leads collaborative grant writing workshops and training sessions open to research faculty and fellows to teach best practices. · Tracks and reports on key metrics related to grant submissions, award rates, revenues, etc. to showcase value delivered in the role. · Doctoral degree in life sciences, medical/clinical or health sciences · Experience in writing grants as well as project management experience · Minimum requirements plus evidence of funding success preferred. · Excellent writing and verbal communication skills /As an Equal Opportunity Employer/Affirmative Action employer, the organization will not discriminate in its employment practices due to an applicant’s race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, and veteran or disability status./ We take great care of careers.
