Description
Bloomsbury Publishing is looking for an organized, creative, and enthusiastic person to join our Adult Trade Publicity team as a Publicity Assistant. This person will work on a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction titles. The ideal candidate will have a passion for books.
Responsibilities
Provide general administrative support to the Senior Director of Marketing, Publicity & Communications, Senior Publicity Managers, Senior Publicist, and Associate Publicist Write press material, pitch letters, emails, and secure national and local media, including print, radio, television, and online outlets Manage online publicity, including updating the website's event lists, maintain and build contact lists, and fielding general media requests in a fast-paced environment Help execute author appearances and book tours, including arranging travel and creating tour schedules Process invoices and update annual budget with department credit card expenses Coordinate galley-to-trade, galley, finished book, monthly paperback, and catalogue mailings Pitch authors available for interview to our extensive radio list and field responses Create an office-wide posting of monthly NYC author events Office maintenance including book ordering, galley organization, magazine subscriptions, and other duties Collate weekly report on media hits and campaign results Work closely with authors as well as marketing, editorial, and sales teams Requirements
Excellent written and verbal communication skills Must be detailed-oriented, well-organized, and able to manage multiple priorities Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment Internship experience in publishing preferred Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Publicity Assistant, Cision and social media is a plus 4-year college degree or equivalent business experience Location
Candidates must reside in the NY tri-state area, and be able to work in person 2 days per week.
