Job Summary
The Director/ Senior Director of Marketing will lead strategy and execution to build brand awareness, drive conversion, and position Believer as a global leader in cultivated meat products and alternative protein. This role will spearhead the go-to-market strategy for a cultivated meat startup launching its first product, shaping brand equity and market presence.
Key responsibilities include building a strong brand identity, building consumer campaigns, forging strategic customer partnerships, and driving sales enablement. The Director/ Senior Director oversee digital and social media strategies, manage agency partners, and optimize vendor collaborations to support ambitious growth objectives. The Director/Senior Director will collaborate with the Director of PR/Communications to align and execute the communications strategy with the brand vision and company goals.
This is a hybrid role open to candidates who can work in-person 2+ days per week Chicago, Illinois or Raleigh, North Carolina. Regular travel (domestic and international) is expected.
Benefits: This is a full-time (exempt) role eligible for generous benefits including PTO, Health Care, Retirement with company match, and Parental and Medical Leaves (subject to company policies including eligibility and waiting periods).
Compensation: The target total compensation for this role is $180,000 to $275,000, which includes base salary and bonus pay. The final offer will be based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
Responsibilities
Brand Campaign & Awareness
Brand Strategy : Shape and amplify brand identity, values, and unique selling propositions to build credibility and differentiation in the cultivated meat market. Campaign Development : Design and lead integrated brand campaigns across digital, print, and social channels, driving awareness and positioning the brand as an industry leader in sustainable, innovative protein solutions. Content Creation & Messaging : Develop impactful messaging tailored to consumers and partners, ensuring a consistent and professional brand voice across all platforms. Growth and Performance Marketing
Growth Initiatives : Drive growth through performance marketing initiatives, focusing on high-impact channels and scalable tactics that maximize ROI and accelerate growth. Demand Generation : Lead efforts to attract and engage customers and partners, building a strong pipeline of qualified leads for sales and partnerships. Data-Driven Optimization : Leverage analytics, A/B testing, and insights to refine marketing tactics, improve reach, and boost customer acquisition. Go-to-Market Strategy & Sales Enablement
Strategic Planning : Shape a market entry plan for the first commercialized product, ensuring strong positioning and tailored messaging for customer partnerships. Sales Enablement : Equip sales teams with effective tools, pitch materials, effectively communicating product benefits and brand positioning to drive product adoption and partner engagement. Market Insights : Conduct research and competitive analysis to identify target segments, emerging trends, channel growth opportunities and alternative protein sectors. Compelling Content:
Create impactful sales materials, case studies, and customer testimonials to support sales pitches and enhance customer acquisition. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. 10+ years of experience in marketing, with a strong background in foodservice, CPG, or food tech industries; and experience in launching new products. Proven track record in go-to-market strategy development, brand campaigns, and B2B partnerships, preferably with experience in sustainable or innovative food products. Strong understanding of digital marketing, social media, and content creation, with experience leveraging these channels for brand building and awareness. Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, startup environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating across departments and with external partners. Data-driven and analytical, with experience in setting and tracking KPIs to inform and optimize marketing efforts. Experience in the alternative protein or food technology industry, particularly with cultivated or plant-based meat products. Strong understanding of sustainability and mission-driven branding. Ability to manage and collaborate with external creative agencies and vendors. Authorized to work in the US (Believer is an E-Verify participant).
