Hearst Television . Job Description Hearst Television (HTV) seeks an experienced
Motion Designer
with exceptional design, organizational, and communication skills to join HTV Design, our centralized graphics team located in Winter Park, FL. This position is in-person and responsible for creating custom video explainers, infographics, and storytelling elements featured in local or group stories across all platforms including broadcast, web, app, and social media. Candidates should be motivated and able to manage multiple design projects simultaneously. You will report to the News Operations Manager. Job Responsibilities: Work with HTV Design, Hearst Television newsrooms, and Data Journalists to create impactful motion designs focused on storytelling, explainers, and infographics, organizing and distilling data sets into easy-to-understand visuals. Emphasis on motion design and storytelling. Work in a collaborative, hands-on, results-driven environment. Build professional relationships with editorial team leads, journalists, and designers at Hearst Television. Experience Requirements: Previous journalism and editorial judgment a plus. Proficient in motion design with Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere, along with supporting tools like Photoshop and Illustrator. Experience designing storytelling motion graphics, video explainers, and data-driven infographics. Experience working with small and large data sets and mapping is a plus. Qualifications Requirements: Strong visualization, conceptualization, and graphic design skills with a solid background in typography, color theory, animation, and layout. Reel and portfolio should demonstrate knowledge of current industry trends and techniques related to storytelling, infographics, and data-focused motion graphics. Strong communication and organizational skills, including presentation skills, both in person and remotely via Teams. Ability to design, animate, and deliver same-day story elements as well as longer-term motion projects. Related military experience and a strong portfolio are strongly considered.
