The Media Streaming Platform team specializes in providing live and on-demand media solutions for Bloomberg Professional services and beyond. We build a comprehensive suite of media tools and services for end-to-end workflows that deliver market-driving multimedia content to our customers with an interactive user experience, industry-leading low latency, and AI-powered enrichment.
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Full Stack Media Engineer to join our team to play a pivotal role in expanding the Media Product to deliver high-volume live company media events globally. You will help lead and drive the design, vision, and architecture of a solution that connects to remote media sources, provides a pipeline for low latency audio distribution and live transcription, and integrates directly with Bloomberg platforms for real-time, rich research and collaborative client workflows.
This work will require close collaboration with multiple partners such as Product, AI, UX design, VX, Network, and other engineering teams. There is a significant opportunity to build a new product from the ground up and deliver substantial new value to Bloomberg clients.
Project Responsibilities:
- Design, architect, and build a highly client-impactful live earning call product, delivering solutions to capture and distribute live audio and transcript data to clients.
- Develop a suite of tools for event and audio feed monitoring, management, and QA.
- Extend the system for audio capturing with various media sources including telephony and webcast.
- Deliver live audio/video streaming to the cloud for mobile playback.
- Research innovative ways to serve client requirements with real-time media.

You will need to have:
- 4+ years of experience building backend services with C++ and Python.
- Experience with media container formats (mp4, webm), codecs, and streaming protocols (MSS, DASH, HLS).
- Experience with network and data transfer protocols.
- Experience working with ffmpeg.
- Experience using distributed streaming platforms such as Kafka.
- Strong problem-solving and design skills.
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, a similar field of study, or equivalent work experience.
We would love to see:
- Experience with cloud storage.
- Experience working with open-source toolkits like Bento4 and WebRTC.
- Experience with real-time streaming protocols like RTSP, RTMP, RTP, and RTCP.
- Experience with Python Django and NGINX.
- Experience with the mobile media stack.
- Experience with DRM.
- Any open-source contributions.
Salary Range: 160,000 - 240,000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus
The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level.
