Workshop/APD is seeking a talented Senior Industrial Designer with 6 - 8 years of experience to join our Collections team. In this role, you will lead the design and documentation of custom furniture, lighting, and accessories that align with the Workshop/APD brand. You will play a pivotal role in bringing our creative vision to life, collaborating closely with designers, manufacturers, and project teams to execute exceptional products for all projects and collaborations.
Duties & Responsibilities
Create sketches, renderings, fabrication drawings, and 3D models to transform concepts into full-scale products. Develop accurate development schedules, manage project timelines, and oversee product status, drawing approvals, and production goals. Lead the design of furniture, lighting, plumbing fixtures, hardware, rugs, wall coverings, and other interior and architectural elements. Select inspiration images, create mood and concept boards, and develop sketches/renderings/models to support product vision. Select finishes and materials for custom products, generate material and labor cost estimates, and acquire samples or prototypes as needed. Serve as a liaison with manufacturers, review and approve shop drawings, and coordinate with vendors, consultants, and manufacturers to ensure seamless production. Troubleshoot post-production issues with manufacturers as required. Identify opportunities to expand the Workshop Collections product line and maintain industry knowledge of furniture, materials, lighting, and design trends. Skills & Qualifications
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a strong ability to convey ideas and feedback. Ability to mentor and train junior staff and collaborate effectively across disciplines. Possesses a strong understanding of current trends in furniture, lighting, and interior design with a passion for innovative and sustainable design solutions. Position Requirements
Professional Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field from an accredited program. 6 - 8 years of professional experience managing technical projects with a proven track record of delivering high-quality designs.
