We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Communications Specialist to support a Department of Defense (DoD) Air Force (AF) contract, specifically focused on cyber security-related projects. This critical position requires a candidate with a strong background in multi-/mixed-media communications, experience working within the DoD enterprise infrastructure, and knowledge of Air Force governance, policies, and procedures. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise to deliver effective communication strategies for DoD AF cyber security projects, with an understanding of NIST frameworks and Zero Trust principles.

Estimated Starting Salary Range for
Strategic Communications Specialist : Pay commensurate with experience.

Strategic Communications Specialist Responsibilities Include
Provide strategic communications support for DoD AF cyber security projects, ensuring alignment with DoD and Air Force policies. Develop and execute multi-/mixed-media communications materials, including press releases, presentations, and digital content. Advise senior leadership on communication strategies and messaging, ensuring consistency and clarity across all platforms. Coordinate with Air Force and DoD stakeholders to ensure seamless communications across various initiatives, with a particular focus on cyber security. Assist in managing communications related to Air Force or DoD infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with internal governance and regulatory standards. Implement effective communication campaigns that engage internal and external audiences, including stakeholders, employees, and the public, with particular emphasis on security-related topics. Support crisis communication efforts related to cyber security incidents, ensuring clear and accurate messaging during high-pressure situations. Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Strategic Communications Specialist Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities Requested
Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field. Minimum of 4 years of experience, including: Multi-/Mixed-media communications production experience, with a proven ability to create content across multiple platforms. Hands-on experience working with Air Force or DoD enterprise infrastructure, governance, policies, and procedures. Cyber Security Experience: Experience or familiarity with cyber security practices, including NIST standards and Zero Trust architecture, is required. Knowledge of DoD communication protocols and Air Force standards is highly preferred. Familiarity with the unique communication needs of cyber security projects and an understanding of how cyber policies impact communication strategies is essential. Cyber Security Expertise: Understanding of NIST frameworks and Zero Trust principles is critical for success in this role, particularly in the context of communicating complex security information. Communications Expertise: Extensive experience in producing and managing strategic communications, including digital, print, and media relations, with an understanding of communicating cyber security information to both internal and external audiences. Familiarity with Air Force or DoD infrastructure, governance, policies, and procedures, particularly in cyber security contexts, is crucial. Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring communication strategies align with organizational goals, with a focus on cyber security initiatives. Proven experience managing multiple communications projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and effective execution, especially in cyber security environments. Ability to develop innovative solutions to communication challenges, particularly in the high-stakes field of cyber security, within the DoD framework.
