Comprising a global group of intellectual property and technical professionals, this team is dedicated to enhancing value from Nokia’s patents and R&D efforts. We focus on transforming research into innovative solutions while effectively monetizing Nokia's world-class patent assets.
We are seeking a video compression expert with deep expertise in H.26X, AV1, and VP9 codecs. Strong experience in patent processes, including handling invention disclosures, patent prosecution, and claim chart drafting, is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing video codec patent portfolios and successfully prosecuting patent applications aligned with relevant standards.
Video coding experience is essential for this role.
Qualifications
- Expertise in video compression codecs (e.g., H.26X, AV1, or VP9)
- Experience in filing and prosecuting patent applications
- Experience in patent portfolio management
- Experience in reviewing patent applications and generating claim charts
- Excellent communication, writing, and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
It would be nice if you also had:
- PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar area
- Qualified as an EP patent attorney
- Attendance and contribution to MPEG and JVET standardization meetings
Responsibilities
- Evaluating ideas, reviewing invention disclosures, and collaborating with inventors
- Filing and prosecuting patent applications
- Securing granted patents with claims aligned to the relevant video codec specifications
- Overseeing and managing a personal patent portfolio
- Performing prior-art search and validity analysis on patents in video codec technology areas
