RF-System Performance Engineer will deliver end-to-end RAN + Core engineering solutions to help develop tools and systems to assist with monitoring of RAN components and technical analysis and recommendation on future directional solutions.
This Engineer will represent the System Performance (SP) group and will actively liaise with all infrastructure vendors - Ericsson, Nokia, and Samsung to understand their technical specs in relation to RAN & CORE and translating them into requirements for the software development team to develop tools and systems to capture network KPIs. The engineer will also be responsible for providing KPI reporting for various HQ teams and will interface with Product Manager(PM)/Product Owner(PO), SP developers, QA/QC, and DevOps Engineering resources to deliver robust, scalable, and manageable application solutions requiring data processing for device network element, performance monitoring of all major network elements and per call measurement records in excess of several billion transactions per day across all for VZW 5G ICL, 5G NR, and 4G LTE/VoLTE technologies. The engineer will be critical to ensure performance applications are able to meet projected capacity growth of the wireless network, especially in the area of 5G/4G LTE/VoLTE.
Other key responsibilities include ensuring alignment with industry best practices, staying abreast of all pertinent technical standards in wireless RF, telecommunications, and advanced network technologies, and communicating this direction to senior engineers and peer engineers in the organization so they can drive and support the efforts. In addition, the engineer will provide technical consultation and guidance for solutions and infrastructure planning, NEC engineering, and SAS software development teams, and mentor junior developers to perform at a high technical level.
Qualifications Description:
- Minimum 8+ years with RF/Core System Performance engineering experience including solid understanding of RAN architecture and systems architecture/design and familiarity with software and database engineering and development.
- Scripting experience in Python.
- Working experience with either one of the infrastructure vendors or have worked in Wireless Telecommunications company as an RF-System Performance RAN engineer.
Education: BS or MS in Electrical Engineering
Preferred Experience:
- Excellent communication and critical thinking skills.
- Experience working in Agile/SAFe teams.
- Strong experience on testing principles, applying different testing techniques to deliver a high-quality product.
- Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities.
- Problem solving abilities along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with Druid DB.
