Job ID: 2896713 | Amazon Web Services Australia Pty Ltd
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
This role has global impact. Our goal is to identify the candidate that has data center technical knowledge and ideally colocation experience. In this role, the engineer will use their subject matter expertise to drive continuous improvement of third-party designs through the creation of standards. If you have experience developing global design and working within a broad design and construction infrastructure environment, we’d love for you to apply.
As a Colo Design Standards Engineer you will be responsible for driving design and availability consistency across our colocation data centers. You will work with Leaders and Principal Engineers in our Colo engineering team and in the wider organization, to set and update standards for colocation capacity. You will work directly with our colocation engineering teams in AMER, EMEA and APAC, and leverage global relationships with our colocation partners to deliver against these standards.
Key job responsibilities
- Develop and maintain consistent colocation design standards to drive equivalent resilience in colocation data centres to AWS owned sites.
- Support the deployment of new AWS products in colocation data centres in a consistent way.
- Input into global design standards and generational data centre template designs.
- Work with regional colo engineering teams to review and accept proposed changes to our global data centre standards.
- Work with our global colocation partners to drive consistent standard solutions to expedite review processes and drive cost efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance and support to key global colocation programs.
- Documentation, release and management of design guides, standards, specifications and procedures.
- Up to 25% international travel.
