Role: Tool Designer
Location: Tukwila, WA
Type: Contract
Duration: Long Term
This role will focus on the post-processing of SLA (Stereolithography) parts, ensuring high-quality finishes and functional performance. You will be responsible for cleaning, curing, sanding, priming, and finishing SLA components to meet customer specifications and engineering requirements. Additional responsibilities include operating and maintaining SLA equipment, preparing build files, and collaborating with customers on design for additive manufacturing.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Post-process SLA parts, including support removal, UV curing, surface smoothing, and final finishing. • Apply manual and machine finishing techniques, including sanding, bead blasting, and polishing, to achieve desired part aesthetics and functionality. • Utilize adhesives, primers, and coatings to enhance part durability and appearance. • Operate and maintain additive manufacturing equipment, including SLA, SLS, PolyJet, FDM, and DMLS systems. • Develop and document post-processing workflows for SLA and other additive technologies. • Work directly with customers to optimize designs for manufacturability and post-processing efficiency.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience) • Hands-on experience with post-processing of SLA and other AM parts. • Proficiency in using hand tools and precision measuring equipment. • Understanding of adhesives, paints, and surface finishing techniques for AM materials. • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in post-processing quality control. • Ability to read and interpret 2D/3D CAD drawings for post-processing requirements
