- KNBN Newscenter1**, the NBC station in Rapid City, SD, is looking for a combination Weekend News Anchor/Producer/Multimedia Journalist to join our growing team. As an MMJ, you will be responsible for writing stories, conducting interviews, shooting video, and editing stories for our newscasts three weekdays per week. You will do live reporting, covering breaking news stories as they happen.
Job Description
- KNBN Newscenter1**, the NBC station in Rapid City, SD, is looking for a combination Weekend News Anchor/Producer/Multimedia Journalist to join our growing team. As an MMJ, you will be responsible for writing stories, conducting interviews, shooting video, and editing stories for our newscasts three weekdays per week. You will do live reporting, covering breaking news stories as they happen.
As Weekend News Anchor / Producer, you will report during the day on Saturdays and Sundays, and then produce and anchor our single late newscast. Our newsroom continues to grow as we expand our news programs, which means you can grow along with us!
Rapid City is a growing city located in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. Mount Rushmore is less than 30 minutes from downtown Rapid City, and nearby Custer State Park and Wind Cave National Park each have one of the largest free-ranging herds of bison in the nation. The Black Hills National Forest offers numerous hiking and ATV opportunities, and Badlands National Park is less than an hour away. In the winter, there are skiing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing opportunities!
NewsCenter1/KNBN-TV is part of Forum Communications Company, a family-owned and -operated company based in Fargo, ND. NewsCenter1 produces over 16 hours of local news, weather, and sports content each week as we continue to grow our staff in the news department.
Essential Functions
- Write stories and conduct interviews on assigned topics.
- Shoot and edit video and edit stories for newscasts.
- Live reporting, as well as reporting on breaking news and sports stories in real time.
- Act as a fill-in anchor for news and sports.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communication, or a related field preferred, but not required. We will train the correct candidate!
- Exceptional written, communication, and organizational skills.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and a driving record that is insurable by the company.
- Must carry an acceptable level of vehicle insurance as required by the company.
Expected compensation for this role is $18.32 - $21.64/hour, based on qualifications and experience.
