The Graham Leader, a twice-weekly publication, has an immediate need for a hands-on, experienced and energetic Sports Writer.
The right candidate will understand how important it is to youth, their parents, and the community that we enthusiastically cover the home teams in all local sports. In addition to establishing a good working relationship with area coaches and reporting on local games, the Sports Writer must also coordinate and produce a few special sections each year. While sports will be the main focus, some news coverage is also required in this position.
The candidate must be a communicator and a courteous team member who is ready to pitch in with other projects when available. Knowledge of sports, the ability to write, and some knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop are all a plus.
Qualified candidates should have the ability to work under strict deadlines and have experience producing stories and taking photographs. We seek someone with solid interpersonal and organizational abilities who can handle community relations, as well as some news reporting. Salary is dependent on experience. Must be willing to relocate to Graham, Texas, with relocation reimbursement available.

This full-time, salaried position features benefits, including paid mileage (approx. average of $5,000/year), health insurance, and PTO. Hours depend upon events to be covered.
