Creative Plastics, LLC., a designer and manufacturer of award-winning, quality displays for a variety of markets, including retailers in the Health & Beauty sector, is seeking a highly motivated and creative designer who will contribute to the design process of our company.
Job Summary:
The Sr. Designer will support all parts of the design process, from brainstorming concepts, to sketching, to creating photo-realistic renderings for meetings, through final approval stages for all retail formats such as point of purchase displays, events, pop-up shops, and freestanding retail stores. This person will provide creative and innovative options that take into consideration the merchandising objectives, communication needs, and relevance for client’s needs. The designer must be able to work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment to meet tight deadlines on a large number of projects. Experience and skill level will determine Designer versus Sr. Designer title.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop original high-level visual design concepts and solutions for multiple, simultaneous projects.
- Work closely with new clients and our sales team to ensure implementation of the vision and direction for each project. Demonstrate the ability to take projects from conception to production.
- Work collaboratively with the team to produce engaging design solutions for a wide range of clients, including the development of brochures, print, sample vehicles, displays, and in-store marketing point of purchase materials.
- Provide design support, creative ideation, and new ideas.
- Ensure creative execution maintains a consistent look and feel across all initiatives for each client based on their direction.
- Flexibility to work on small, medium, and large projects.
- Develop, create, design, layout, and communicate concepts and mockups for customer approvals in a demanding environment. Quickness and accuracy are key in this position.
- Interface with various company divisions to ensure we are producing a cost-effective product while obtaining desired outcomes.
- Stay current with design trends.
- Document all individual activities and provide periodic reporting as required by management.
- Create merchandising solutions for both retailers and brand marketers.
- Work projects from initial concept to final renderings, as well as update existing displays with a focus on unique, yet practical solutions to clients' marketing objectives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Initiative-taking, collaborative, and self-motivated.
- Strong, Clean Design – We are looking for someone with an eye for layout, strong graphic design skills, and an appreciation of simplicity.
- Attention to detail – you notice when alignment is off, when words are not kerned, and when colors vary in shade.
- Experience in working with or ability to learn Sketch Up and other 3D rendering programs.
- Good drawing and graphic skills.
- Analytical ability where problems are complex.
- People skills to work effectively with others.
- Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite, 3D Studio Max, Solidworks.
- Must have demonstrated skills in ideation, sketching, and photo-realistic renderings, etc.
- Preferred candidates have worked with/in or have knowledge in at least one of the following industries: consumer electronics, beauty, home improvement, temporary displays.
- Candidates should have a basic understanding of fabrication methods, including sheet metal, tubing, wood, and plastics.
- Excellent communication skills and strong conceptual skills.
- Ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced, creative environment.
- Cosmetics/Beauty background is a Must.
Physical Requirements: Work is performed in an office environment.
- Stationary work: requiring ability to sit, stand for long periods of time.
- Moderate amounts of walking involved in travel, walking stores, and reviewing prototypes.
- Consistent use of repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers to view and operate computer, phone, and basic office equipment.
- Occasional lift/push/pull up to 20 pounds.
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, frequently more than 30 minutes at a time.
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises and smells associated with the plant.
